with a background of old London & St Paul's, Dickens is
surrounded by characters from his works names below forming a ring. The

Squire" with a green coat this is a plate from the first series
of professionals pre 1949 the base colour is slightly creamier than the
second series. Again the squire is having a drink of wine surrounded by the

a very early No of D3872 titled "Nasturtiums"
this plate is very rare, this is the first one we have seen in 30 year of
Doulton collecting. The plate is crazed on the rear but not on the front

excellent condition. The bowl shows the typical willow pattern design in
colours that only Royal Doulton achieved. The bowl is plain on the inside
with the early colour spill at the top & has a blue back-stamp. The bowl

like a bell when flicked. A very nice Doulton item.

Makes Merry Under The Greenwood Tree" & bears the No D3751,
the series has it own special back-stamp. The series was introduced in 1914
& withdrawn 1967. this is a very old plate as bear the first issue No.
The plate has crazing due to age but does not detract. The colours are

This is a very rare Royal Doulton Nursery Rhymes designed by
William Savage Cooper (1863-19430, the series was introduced in 1903 &
withdrawn by 1939. This plate is unusual as it shows more than one nursery
rhyme characters with a Turkish looking horse rider in the background the
plate itself is in cream ware. The colours are vibrant with no crazing &

A Rare Royal Doulton seriesware back plate from The
"Monks Fishing" that consists of only this plate in the series.
The plate has a scene of a Monk sitting on the waters edge fishing
surrounded by reeds, ferns & rocks etc & has a motto "Tomorrow
will be Friday" on the bottom edge of the plate. A very small edge chip
has been professionally restored on the plate. The plate is very rare as the
series was not in production for long. A very attractive, interesting
plate.
